The first commission which launched our long-term cooperation with the people who are now our regular customers consisted in furnishing the extension to their family house in Dolní Bojanovice. The building is located in the heart of the village’s wine-growing area, and the owners conceived of their dwelling in a beautiful, sensitive way. No wonder, then, that solid oak was selected as the main material, used in its natural form to build the furniture, doors, floors, and other features.
For the new bathroom which had been built in the parents’ bedroom as a part of the extension, we made a sliding oak door with a type of ironwork which is rare in the Czech Republic, yet highly effective – doorknob. The basin closet – table – contains a dressing table with a practical hinged mirror and enough space to store all the necessary bottles and necessities which usually clutter one’s bathroom. Another, “regular” mirror is hung on an oak board on the wall.
For the separate WC, we built not only a lockable sliding door, but also a basin board.
The parents’ bathroom extends to a walk-in closet with a fitted wardrobe, equipped with a milk glass door. The drawers have a moulded handle which is both beautiful and practical.
For the room of the two sons, we built an oak closet with storage drawers and one lockable drawer, accessible from the side and capable of hiding all of their treasures. The large sliding milk glass door can also serve as a drawing board – window markers can be easily wiped away from it.
There was enough space left to place a stainless-frame side table into the vestibule.
